(1000 mg Each Tablet)
Hyperacidity is related with disorders of acid production in the stomach resulting in various digestive abnormalities. This has been one of the most common prevailing problems in present days due to the changing lifestyles and unhealthy dietary routine. The modern competitive stressful life, junk food, processed food, excessive spicy food, cold drinks, too much alcohol are among the most common causative factor for unbalancing stomach acid. The most common symptoms of imbalance of stomach acid are heart burn, sour eructation, nausea, vomiting, loose stool and pain in the abdomen aggravating usually after the intake of food or on empty stomach.
Acigard is a unique and synergistic herbal formulation for balancing stomach acid and helps to counter any disturbance of digestive process in the gastro intestinal tract. It is unique because it contains herbs and minerals which not only balances the production of acid but also nourishes the mucous membrane of the stomach and kills the unwanted pathogens in the stomach and other parts of gastro intestinal tract. This cooling and soothing formulation also improves the appetite, reduces the symptoms of heart burn, sour eructation, nausea, pain and heaviness in stomach area.

Emblica officinalis (Indian Gooseberry) Amalaki
Amalaki helps body by balancing the factors responsible for digestion. It regulates digestive fire without increasing stomach acid. Amalaki is a rich source of Vitamin C that helps create a balanced acidic environment in the stomach which inhibits the growth of the bacteria and enhances food absorption. Amalaki provides benefit in people with aggravated Pitta. Amalaki is ideal for balancing hyperacidity and other Pitta-related digestive problems. Oral administration of Amla extract significantly inhibited the development of gastric ulcer. It also caused significant decrease of the gastric secretion, acidity and gastric mucosal injury. Amla was found to protect the stomach wall against depletion of mucus layer. The results indicate that Amla extract possesses antisecretory, antiulcer and cytoprotective properties. Emblica supports the brain during cephalic phase of digestion thus helps in normal secretion of stomach acid.
Glycyrrhiza glabra (Licorice) Mulethi:
Licorice has a number of medicinal properties including peptic ulcer healing, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and antioxidant activities. Licorice was found to stimulate and accelerate the differentiation of glandular cells in the stomach as well as stimulate mucus formation and secretion. It contains some flavonoids that have antimicrobial activity, including activity against the ulcer-causing bacterium Helicobacter pylori. Several studies have demonstrated positive effects from the use of licorice in gastric and duodenal ulcer conditions. Studies have shown that Licorice is as effective as presently used anti-acid drugs cimetidine and ranitidine in gastric ulcer. Licorice appears to confer significant protection against the gastric mucosal damage caused by aspirin and other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Gastric bleeding induced by aspirin intake can also be reduced with licorice supplementation.
Turbinella rapa (Conch Shell) Shankha Bhasma:
Conch shell regulates digestive fire, digests toxic Ama and pacifies excess Pitta. It is used in Ayurveda for controlling symptoms like heart burn, sour eructation, pain in abdomen and indigestion. It is especially useful when increased stomach acid causes pain in stomach or intestine. Conch shell is a good source of calcium which is an essential component in the production of various enzymes and hormones that regulate digestion and other bodily functions. Insufficient presence of calcium can cause low pH which in long term can cause chronic acidosis. Turbinella rapa is specially processed with lemon juice that enables it to maintain pH of the stomach more efficiently.
Mineral Salt (Shwet Parpati):
A classical Ayurvedic preparation used as good buffering agent especially useful when low digestive fire causes indigestion and pain in abdomen. It helps balance the pH when it is too low (more acidic) and neutralizes its harmful effects. It is a good source of electrolytes which are lost due to chronic problem of hyperacidity.
Saccharum officinarum (Sugarcane) Mishri:
It is used as natural sweetener in ayurvedic formulation and good Pitta and Vata pacifier. It reduces the excess of heat in the body and stimulates bile secretion thus brings back the equilibrium of Soma (coolness) and Agni (Heat) i.e. alkali and acid balance. Mishri causes granulation in the ulcer and heals it. It is a good refrigerant so counters hyper acidity and prevents symptoms like heart burn, sour eructation and pain in abdomen.
Asparagus racemosus (Indian Asparagus) Shatavari:
Shatavari nourishes mucosal lining of stomach, reduces inflammation and acts as a buffering agent. Shatavari reduces ill effect of chronic acidity and controls acid secretion. Study of antiulcer and antisecretory activity of Asparagus racemosus in various cases of gastric ulcer showed significant reduction in the ulcer index, volume of gastric secretion, free acidity and total acidity. Study also indicated an increase in antioxidant defense, i.e. increase of anti oxidant enzymes like super oxide dismutase, catalase and ascorbic acid and there is decrease in oxidating enzymes like lipid peroxidase. Asparagus racemosus was found more effective in reducing drug and stress induced gastric ulcer.
Syzygium aromaticum (Clove) Lavang:
Clove has been used since centuries to overcome the ailments of stomach, bowel and liver and as a stimulant for the nerves. It relieves gastric complaints like bloating, belching and nausea. It balances Samana and Apana vata thus controls digestive fire, secretion of bile and stomach acid mediated by Vagus nerve. Clove has also been listed as having antiseptic and antibacterial properties thus provides good protection against H.pylori.
Cypraea moneta (Cowrie Shell) Kapardika Bhasma:
Kapardika possesses cooling properties and rich in minerals. It has significant cytoprotective action and tones up gastric and duodenal mucosa and makes them resistant to the corrosive action of acid. It shows prompt neutralizing action on gastric acid and favors healing of an existing peptic or duodenal ulcer. It pacifies Vata and Pitta thssus reduces pain and burning which occurs either during digestion or after digestion.
Zingiber officinale (Ginger) Sonth:
Ginger has been used to aid digestion and to treat stomach upset, diarrhea, nausea and ulcers. It digests Ama and improves cellular metabolism. The phenolic compounds present in ginger are responsible for relaxing the muscles of the stomach which may explain their effect in easing motion sickness. Both Fresh or dried ginger has been shown to minimize nausea and vomiting. In addition, the phenolic content of ginger acts within the stomach and helps to reduce over-activity of the gut. In stomach infections, it acts as an antiseptic and an anti-inflammatory. The anti-ulcer effect of ginger is due to its overall effect on digestion.
Piper longum (Long Pepper) Pippali:
Piper longum helps stimulate the appetite and dispels gas from the intestine, relieves flatulence which are some common features associated with hyperacidity. It enhances bioavailability and thus increases the absorption and assimilation of other herbs and minerals.
Cinnamomum zeylanicum (Cinnamon) Dalchini:
Two active compounds found in cinnamon [3-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-propanoic acid and its O-glucoside] prevents serotonin-induced ulcerogenesis .They also inhibit gastric ulcers induced by the other ulcerogens such as phenylbutazone, ethanol and stress. They minutely inhibit the secretion of gastric acid as well as promote the gastric blood flow. These results suggest that the antiulcerogenic effect of this compound of cinnamon is probably due to the stimulation of defensive factors through the improvement of the circulatory disorder and gastric cytoprotection.
Terminalia chebula (Chebulic Myrobalan) Haritaki:
In Ayurvedic classics, Terminalia chebula is highly regarded for its healing powers. It eliminates all waste from the body due to its Apana vata balancing quality. It also promotes tissue growth and overall health. Terminalia Chebula has antibacterial and antioxidant properties.
